I just watched the appalling documentary –India’s Daughters. India’s daughters???? Really??? I still have goosebumps all over my body from watching that horrendous video! I am appalled. I am disgusted! I am just at a loss for words!!! I can’t stop the wave of nausea that hits me every time I think of the lawyers’ comments and I can’t help wishing someone would just do to him what he said was just a thing- I wish someone would pull his intestines out of his anus (like what happened to that poor victim; only her entrails came out of her vagina)
She is definitely not the 1st victim of a gang rape, then why all the commotion? Maybe because it happened in the capital, maybe because the media hyped it a lot, maybe because she was so badly wounded and everyone came to know about it? or maybe it was just that people finally had enough and were just as appalled as I am right now. Or maybe it was because it was the 1st time India united against rape culture.
But the saddest part of the whole story is that the educated lawyers just reflected the mindset of a large chunk of our society- “KILL THE WOMEN IN OUR FAMILY IF THEY ENGAGE IN PRE-MARITAL RELATIONS”. or “ITS THE FAULT OF THE GIRL FOR BEING RAPED” or “IN OUR RICH CULTURE THERE IS NO PLACE FOR WOMEN”
But is there any truth in what one of the perpetrators said? He claimed that there are people out there who do worse stuff after raping- like burning the victim alive or removing the eyeballs and they get to be free just because they are not caught?
There are a huge no. of people in the parliament against whom rape charges are still pending. What about them? What about the hundred other victims out there who have to live with the horror of being gang raped? Are they not heroes? And don’t their perpetrators deserve the death penalty?
When will people realize that charity begins at home? Only if we teach our children to respect the opposite genders as equals and teach them not to abuse anyone; When we educate our children with all the right moral values with respect to both genders, when we respect the opposite gender, when we stand up and show zero tolerance will there be any change at all!!!
I just don’t know what more to say. I am speechless because in retrospect these events are a culmination of whatever is wrong with our society’s mentality. How much longer will this continue? And specifically why are we so shocked about it? this has been around for centuries and decades now… I really shouldn’t be shocked now… maybe it was just the metaphorical kick in the gut that’s making me queasy…

Simply appalling. Such ignorance among such beautiful souls! When the ‘leaders’ are so sinfully stupid, how can ordinary men even recognize their own evil deeds? Shame on them all! The women should rise up and do more than picket.

Indeed. How can one justify rape????

You can’t. Men who believe rape okay. Must of been raised without knowing the love of mother and grandmother.

All women and children need to be safe. I pray daily for all the people of our world. To have shelter, food and opportunity. Thank you for your blog. Last month. 15 year girl walking her dog in a safe area. A man stopped his motorcyle and followed her. A runner from a distance saw the event. He run toward the girl. When he got there the man had beaten her to death. Stripped her and was going to rape the dead body. The runner was artist. He drew the man and he got capture. World is scary. This happen in a safe place far away from the city.

They shouldn’t be shot in the head! Many youngsters like me have really a different strange process to punish them before letting them to die. Shot in the head is peaceful for them. They shouldn’t die so peacefully! I would take 28days if I had given a chance. Showing them how cruel can one be!

The comments made my those lawyers man me sick… set her on fire? It’s her fault? It was a mistake? Caused by food!?
What kind of bull is that? Never in my life have I heard so much bull…. this needs to stop. Seriously. How can they not see this as wrong? How can they continuously mistreat their women… they all have mothers, sisters, nieces, cousins, friends.
What’s sadder is when they go to other countries and their daughters want to marry white men, or black men etc. and their fathers beat them.
I’ve heard so many stories of girls that I know (and even some boys) being beaten by their parents for hanging around people of not only the opposite sex, but also of different races.
My one buddy, his mom screamed at him for hanging around a white girl, and another friend of mine was beaten by his parents because he was dating a girl of a different religion!
What is wrong with people!? Especially those lawyers! Jeez…those men have something screwed up in their heads.
Rape is not okay…that’s why it’s called rape. If the girl wanted to do it, it would be called consent!
….Those are peoples mothers and daughters and sisters and cousins and nieces and friends…those are people. Women are people…God…there’s so much injustice there. Something needs to be done. Things need to change, and the only way it’s going to change is if people stand up and change it.

Ur absolutely right. No matter how much a section of people try to be bigger and crawl out of this mess, there are always those who pull them down like crabs. Unfortunately this happens everywer, in different forms. Its so sad that most of the time it’s educated people that say or do such unforgivable things

It is because the rich and educated don’t want the rest of the world to become educated. They want to keep the wealth to themselves…therefore they keep everyone else uneducated and poor…that’s how they get away with this stuff.

I can hardly believe that humans said these things, the quotes are evil and inhuman.

If what they just said is inhuman then what about the girl who went thru the rape? Check out my other post ‘they go on raping’. There’s a link to the article that will give u the full picture in that.

I fully understand this and what the poor girl suffered . I was saying that what these so called learned men have to say about it being the girls fault is wrong in so many ways.

Ur ryt. It absolutely is. The educated idiots actually have the audacity to put the blame on the girl after the horrendous ordeal she went thru.

It’s so easy to sit in America and forget about the horrid nightmares that are taking place around the world. What got me the most was the quotes that you included. Education is a key here but, to me, this problem goes further than facts and logic because the people (men) in power are saying these things. A national/international shift in philosophy needs to happen.

Ur right. Education is just a starter/an appetiser. The main course is gonna b a very difficult one to serve.
